Remote-control hose used as a control line on the blast pot
In pneumatic remote control systems, the signal from the remote-control deadman handle is transmitted to the blast pot via thin compressed-air lines. These remote-control hoses are therefore part of the control system and not part of the actual abrasive transport system. They must be leak-free, flexible, and mechanically sound to ensure that the remote-control valve responds reliably.
Single-hose and Twinline systems
Depending on the manufacturer and remote control design, different control lines are used. The product range includes single-line remote-control hoses as well as Twinline versions with two parallel lines. Twinline hoses combine the necessary control channels into a compact unit and are often sold with matching fittings already included.
The required design depends on the existing remote-control deadman handle and valve system. Single-hose and Twinline models must not be selected based solely on external similarities.
Note the inner diameters and threaded connections
Depending on the system, current control lines use different inner diameters. The fittings and screw connections also vary. When replacing a line, therefore, either the exact existing series or the connection dimensions should be clearly identified.
Length affects the working radius and response characteristics
Remote-control hoses are available in various lengths. The hose should be long enough for the operator to safely reach the intended work area. At the same time, unnecessary excess length should be avoided. Very long pneumatic control lines can affect a system’s response and increase the risk of mechanical damage on the job site.
Protect the control line from damage
During blasting operations, the remote-control hose and the blast hose are often laid together on the floor. As a result, they can be run over, crushed, kinked, or damaged by sharp edges. A leaky control line can cause malfunctions or delayed switching. A visual inspection before use is therefore recommended.
