Buy dustless blasting machines—recovery blasting instead of open abrasive distribution
Dustless blasting machines, also known as vacuum blast machines, combine blasting and extraction directly on the workpiece. A brush, rubber, or special attachment seals off the work area as effectively as possible from the surrounding environment. As the abrasive media hits the surface, the abrasive media, dust, and removed particles are immediately sucked back up.
This makes vacuum blast machines particularly suitable for repairs, maintenance, weld seams, localized rust removal, and paint stripping, as well as for work in indoor spaces or production environments. Compared to open-air blasting, the dispersion of abrasive media and dust can be significantly reduced. However, it is not possible to achieve a completely dust-free environment on every surface and with every geometry.

Injector suction units for small and localized areas
Compact vacuum blast machines often operate on the injector principle. They are relatively easy to handle and are suitable for weld seams, edges, small repair areas, localized coating removal, and cleaning tasks. Different brushes or attachments help adapt the working head to flat surfaces, inner or outer radii, and edges.
The advantage lies in its portability and in the enclosed or largely enclosed work area. However, the achievable removal rate is lower than that of high-performance compressed-air blast extraction systems.
Pressure Blasting Suction Units for Higher Performance
For larger or more intensive jobs, recirculating blasting units with blast pots are available. In the current product line, the tank sizes for these systems range from compact models up to approximately 50 liters. Depending on the model, 5-mm or 6.5-mm blast nozzles, high-performance vacuum pumps, and multi-stage filtration technology are used.

Recover and Reuse Abrasive Media
Many recirculation systems separate reusable abrasive media from dust and light residues. This can significantly reduce abrasive media consumption. However, this requires that the abrasive media be dry, sufficiently clean, and still have a suitable particle size after recovery.
Brittle abrasive media break down more quickly and produce more fine particles. Greasy, damp, or sticky contaminants can impair the circulation and filtration technology. Such surfaces should be properly prepared before blasting.
Selecting a Compressor and Nozzle for Vacuum Blasting Systems
In suction blasting as well, the amount of compressed air required is largely determined by the nozzle size and operating pressure. Compact systems can operate with moderate air volumes, while more powerful units require several cubic meters of compressed air per minute. In addition, some systems require electrical power for the vacuum pump and filtration unit.
The compressor should have sufficient reserve capacity to ensure that the desired blasting pressure remains stable under load. At the same time, the extraction system must not be neglected: High blasting power without adequate extraction capacity compromises dust control.
Buy a dustless blasting machine – understand the term correctly
In practice, those looking for a dustless blasting machine usually mean a vacuum blasting system designed for significantly reduced dust emissions. These systems can considerably reduce cleaning efforts and the open distribution of blasting media, but they do not automatically replace risk assessments or the required personal protective equipment.
The surface area, workpiece geometry, desired removal rate, abrasive media, available compressed air, and operating environment are crucial for making the right selection. Based on these factors, you can determine whether a compact injector system, a high-performance pressure blasting and suction unit, or a retrofit system for existing blasting equipment is the best choice.
