Compact microblasting units for precision work

The smaller systems in the product range, in particular, use containers starting at 0.7 liters. They are suitable for detailed work that requires only small amounts of abrasive. Very small nozzles reduce air consumption and produce a narrow, easily controllable jet.

The Kalo Miniblaster systems illustrate this design particularly well. The Miniblaster-I operates with a 0.7-liter pressure tank. The Miniblaster-II features two separate 0.7-liter tanks and two blasting wands. This allows two different blasting media to be kept on hand and switched without having to empty the tanks first.

Nozzle size determines precision and air consumption

The smaller the nozzle, the more precisely the work area can be defined. At the same time, the required compressed air flow rate generally decreases. For the compact microblasting units, the available nozzle sizes in the current product line range from less than 1 mm to several millimeters.

Clearly distinguish between fine blasting and low-pressure blasting

Microblasting units and low-pressure blast machines overlap technically to some extent, but they serve different search and selection purposes. With microblasting units, the focus is on precision, small nozzles, fine abrasives, and detailed work. Low-pressure blast machines, on the other hand, are selected more often for their wide, adjustable pressure range and their ability to process larger surfaces while minimizing damage to the material.

A device can therefore technically fit into both categories. The deciding factor in selecting a device should be whether the focus is on precise, detailed work or on the highly adjustable processing of larger surfaces.

Dry compressed air for consistent dosing

Fine abrasive media are particularly sensitive to moisture. Condensation can cause the media to clump, flow unevenly, or clog small nozzles. Therefore, proper compressed-air treatment is especially important in fine blasting applications.

Depending on the compressed air system, water separators, aftercoolers, or refrigerated air dryers may be required. Abrasive media should also be stored in a dry place and checked for contaminants before filling.
