Clemco suction blast cabinets in our product line

Clemco suction blast cabinets are designed for controlled blasting operations in an enclosed work area. The suction blast principle utilizes the injector effect of the blast gun to draw in abrasive media and deliver it to the nozzle together with compressed air. The process is suitable for many cleaning, matting, roughening, and surface preparation tasks and can be easily adapted to different surfaces by selecting the appropriate abrasive media, working pressure, and working distance.

Kit-Cab and Pulsar models

The Kit-Cab is available with a cartridge filter and an 8-mm boron carbide nozzle and comes in several models. The Pulsar II and Pulsar III combine suction blasting technology with a cyclone and cartridge filter. The Pulsar VI and Pulsar VI Plus feature a more powerful cyclone with a capacity of 16.8 m³/min; the Pulsar VI Plus also includes two filter cartridges. This allows users to select the appropriate filtration and recycling technology based on the intensity of use.

BNP Suction Blast Cabinets

For larger industrial applications, the BNP-220, BNP-601, and BNP-721 are available. These models are equipped with a 900-CFM cyclone and an 8-mm boron carbide nozzle. Depending on the model, either an MBX-1500 filter or, in the case of the BNP-721, either an MBX-1500 or an MBX-2000 filter is used. In addition to the cabinet size itself, the selection process should take into account how much space is needed to rotate and position the workpieces.

Abrasive Reconditioning and Filtration Technology

The cyclone separates dust, abrasion residue, and unsuitable fine particles from the reusable abrasive media. This helps ensure a more stable process and can reduce abrasive media consumption. The filtration unit extracts dust-laden air from the work area and helps maintain a clear view of the workpiece. The condition of the filters and the cleaning process should therefore be checked regularly.

Nozzle, abrasive media, and Surface

The boron-carbide blast nozzle is designed for high wear resistance but remains a wear part. As the nozzle bore increases, the compressed air requirement rises and the blasting behavior may change. Similarly, the grain shape, grit size, and hardness of the abrasive media influence the removal rate and the resulting surface finish. For sensitive or unknown materials, it is recommended to test a small area at reduced pressure.

Key Selection Criteria

āœ… Choose a booth size with sufficient space to move around the workpiece

āœ… Take cyclone performance into account based on the intensity of use

āœ… Adjust filter size and filter cleaning to the amount of dust

āœ… Select abrasive media based on material and desired surface finish

āœ… Adjust compressor power ratings to the 8-mm blast nozzle and operating pressure

Properly Sizing a Compressed Air Supply

A suction blast cabinet can only achieve its full performance with a stable compressed air supply. It is not just the compressor’s rated pressure that is crucial, but also the actual available flow rate under blasting load. Pipe diameters that are too small, long pipes, or pressure losses in the treatment system can further limit performance.

For regular professional blasting work

The appropriate Clemco suction blast cabinet should be selected based on workpiece dimensions, daily operating time, abrasive media, dust generation, and the desired surface finish. This allows us to put together a technically suitable solution ranging from a compact workstation to a larger industrial cabinet. We provide support in selecting and coordinating the cabinet, nozzle, abrasive media, filtration technology, and compressed air supply.
