Hose couplings as connections between lines and equipment
Hose couplings play a central role in compressed air and other hose systems. They connect hose lines to one another or provide a detachable connection to machines, tools, and fittings. The right coupling facilitates installation and maintenance and contributes to a reliably functioning system.
Do not mix coupling systems
Different coupling profiles may look similar on the outside, but they are not automatically compatible. Claw couplings, quick-release couplings, and other types each operate with their own specific geometry. Therefore, the coupling and its mating part must be clearly assigned to the same compatible system.
Hose Size and Connection Type
With a blast hose coupling, it’s not just the coupling side that matters. The connection to the hose is just as important. The inner diameter, outer diameter, wall thickness, and intended hose fastening must match the coupling design. For threaded connections, the exact thread size must also be taken into account.
Seals, Flow, and Operating Conditions
The seal must be compatible with the respective coupling and application. At the same time, the free flow cross-section should be appropriate for the required air volume or medium. Especially in the case of compressed-air consumers with high flow rates, unsuitable constrictions can affect the performance of the entire system.
Selection Criteria for Hose Couplings
✅ Clearly identify the coupling profile and mating part
✅ Take hose dimensions and mounting into account
✅ Carefully check connection threads at junctions
✅ Consider the medium, operating conditions, and required flow rate
Check the entire connection regularly
Hose couplings, seals, and hose fastenings are subject to wear and mechanical stress. Regular visual and functional inspections help identify damaged or loosened components early on. We’d be happy to assist you in selecting a suitable blast hose coupling for your existing piping system.
