Angle blast nozzles for special workpiece geometries

On supports, cavities, inner edges, rear surfaces, or complex structures, the surface cannot always be reached at a favorable angle using a standard straight blast nozzle. Angle blast nozzles therefore specifically alter the direction in which the abrasive media exits the nozzle. This allows the operator to treat hard-to-reach surfaces without unnecessarily kinking the blast hose or forcing the nozzle into an awkward position.

45° blasting direction and multiple blast outlets

The current product range includes 45° models with one, two, or three blast outlets, as well as longer, curved nozzles. A nozzle with multiple outlets distributes the available air and abrasive flow in multiple directions. This can be advantageous for certain internal contours, but must be appropriate for the desired processing intensity.

The most suitable design depends primarily on the surface area to be treated and how much space is available for the nozzle and blast hose.

Tungsten carbide or boron carbide

Angle blast nozzles are available in various hard materials. Tungsten carbide is a robust and versatile choice for many professional applications. Boron carbide offers particularly high wear resistance and can be a cost-effective option for intensive use or highly abrasive blasting media. In addition to wear resistance, the mechanical stress at the point of use should also be taken into account.

Bore Diameter and Air Consumption

Even with an angle blast nozzle, the nozzle bore significantly determines the required flow rate. Larger bores or multiple blast outlets require a corresponding amount of compressed air. The compressor must be able to maintain the required working pressure under actual load. Otherwise, the blasting performance will drop despite suitable nozzle geometry.

50 mm coarse thread compatible with the nozzle holder

The current angle blast nozzles in the product line are available with a 50 mm coarse thread. This requires a compatible nozzle holder. In addition, the inner diameter and length of the blast hose should be selected to prevent unnecessary pressure losses.

Check before selecting

✅ Required blasting direction and number of blast outlets

✅ Workpiece geometry and available workspace

✅ Nozzle bore and compressor power

✅ Tungsten carbide or boron carbide, depending on operating conditions

✅ Nozzle holder with 50 mm coarse thread

Select an angle blast nozzle based on the specific application

Angle blast nozzles are not a one-size-fits-all alternative to standard nozzles, but rather a specialized solution for specific geometries. ABS Strahltechnik provides assistance with selection based on the workpiece, blast direction, abrasive media, air flow rate, and existing blasting system.
