Abrasive Quick Shut-Off for Precise Process Control
In conventional blasting systems, compressed air and abrasive media are controlled via the remote control and metering valve system. For certain applications, an additional abrasive quick shut-off valve may be useful. It allows the abrasive media supply to be interrupted particularly quickly, while the system continues to be controlled according to its design.
Benefits during frequent start-up and shutdown processes
If the operator frequently switches between blasting and positioning, a quick interruption of the abrasive flow can support the workflow. This is particularly useful, for example, for targeted machining, sensitive workpiece areas, or frequently changing blasting points. However, it is crucial that the quick-shut-off feature is technically compatible with the existing blast pot and control system.
Remote control and quick-shut-off as a single unit
An abrasive quick shut-off system does not operate independently of the remote control. Depending on the system, it is activated via a suitable remote-control deadman handle and an electric or other control system designed for this purpose. The system currently offered uses an electric deadman handle. However, the category is intentionally kept open for other compatible models and manufacturers.
Retrofitting only if technically compatible
Anyone wishing to retrofit a quick-shut-off valve to an existing blast pot should carefully check the existing metering valve, remote control, and piping configuration. Connection sizes, valve technology, and control logic must be compatible. A quick-shut-off valve is not a universal adapter that can be installed in any system without further verification.
Consider Abrasive Media and Wear
Since the quick-shut-off valve comes into contact with the flow of abrasive media, the parts that carry the media are subject to wear. The type and grit size of the abrasive media influence the degree of wear. Regular maintenance and inspection are therefore particularly important, especially during intensive use.
Check before retrofitting
✅ Manufacturer and model series of the blast pot
✅ Existing abrasive metering valve
✅ Remote-control deadman handle and control concept
✅ Connection sizes and pipe configuration
✅ Abrasive media used and intensity of use
Select an abrasive quick shut-off valve that is compatible with the system
The right solution depends on the complete configuration of the blasting system. ABS Strahltechnik offers professional quick-shut-off technology and can assist with technical classification based on the blast pot, metering valve, and remote control. The product range can be expanded in the future to include additional suitable systems without altering the category’s fundamental technical focus.
