Radler & Ruf suction blast cabinets overview

Radler & Ruf offers suction blast cabinets in a wide range of sizes and configuration levels. This makes the series an attractive option for workshops, maintenance departments, manufacturing facilities, and businesses that handle workpieces of varying sizes. In the suction blasting process, abrasive media is drawn in via the blast gun’s injector mechanism and accelerated by compressed air. The technology is versatile and suitable for many recurring surface treatment tasks.

SK Series for Various Workpiece Sizes

The SK models range from the compact SK-300 to larger versions such as the SK-500S, SK-500, SK-800, SK-900, and SK-1100. Several models are equipped with a professional blasting head and an 8 mm Ø carbide blasting nozzle and, depending on the version, can be combined with a filtration unit. This allows the cabinet to be adapted to the frequency of use, workpiece size, and dust generation.

Seated cabins and larger systems

The 1826 suction blast cabinet is a seated cabinet solution featuring a filtration unit and manual filter cleaning. For larger workpieces, the product range includes models 2642/6, 2642/7, 2642/8, as well as 4050, 4055, and 4060. These models feature filter systems from the AE-T series and can, in some cases, be supplemented with an abrasive reconditioning system.

When is vacuum blasting a good option?

Suction blast cabinets are a cost-effective solution for many routine blasting tasks, especially when the maximum removal rate of a pressure blast cabinet is not required. Typical applications include cleaning, matting, roughening, deburring, or preparing surfaces for subsequent coating and machining processes.

Filtration unit and Abrasive Circulation System

Blasting generates dust, abrasion residue, and broken-down abrasive media particles. A properly sized filter system improves visibility in the work area and removes fine particles from the airstream inside the booth. During intensive use, abrasive reconditioning may be beneficial to separate reusable abrasive media from dust and unwanted components and to maintain more consistent process conditions.

Do not choose a workspace that is too small

It is not just a matter of whether a workpiece fits through the door. Inside the booth, it must be possible to move, rotate, and access the workpiece safely from various angles. A sufficiently sized work area therefore improves ergonomics and the quality of the finishing process. For larger or heavier workpieces, loading and workpiece handling should be taken into account during the selection process.

Key Selection Criteria

✅ Interior space and door opening sized to fit the workpiece

✅ Filter performance tailored to dust generation

✅ Take into account abrasive reconditioning for longer service life

✅ Select abrasive media based on material and surface finish

✅ Take into account the compressed air requirements of the nozzle being used

Abrasive Media and Wear Parts

The choice of abrasive media affects removal rate, surface roughness, and dust generation. Likewise, the blast nozzle should be checked regularly for wear, as an enlarging nozzle bore increases air consumption and can alter the blasting result. For sensitive materials, it is recommended to test a small area at an appropriate pressure.

Compressor Power Under Blasting Load

To ensure smooth operation, the compressor must be able to continuously deliver the required air volume at the desired operating pressure. Not only the rated capacity but also pressure losses due to piping, filters, and connections must be taken into account. An undersized compressed air supply leads to pressure drops and fluctuating blasting performance.

Choose the right booth for your work process

When making a selection, workpiece dimensions, the desired blasting result, the abrasive media, daily operating time, and the available compressed air supply should all be considered together. We can assist you in selecting a suitable Radler & Ruf suction blast cabinet and in coordinating the accessories.
