Wet blasting by adding water at the nozzle
In wet blasting, water is added to the blasting process. The water binds some of the dust generated and can thereby reduce dust levels in the immediate work environment. At the same time, the addition of water alters the process behavior. The amount and type of water supply must therefore be tailored to the surface, the abrasive media, the desired cleaning effect, and the conditions at the site of use.
Wet blast nozzle or wet blast head?
This category includes both specialized wet blast nozzles and wet blast heads. A wet blast nozzle is already designed as a suitable nozzle unit for the process. A wet blast head, on the other hand, can be used as a supplement with a suitable blast nozzle. Before making a purchase, you should therefore carefully check which components are already present in the respective system.
25 mm and 50 mm coarse threads
The product range includes compact wet blast nozzles with a 25 mm coarse thread, as well as several solutions with a 50 mm coarse thread. These sizes must be compatible with the existing nozzle holder. The connection size should be carefully checked, especially when retrofitting an existing system.
Tungsten Carbide for Professional Applications
Several of the wet blast nozzles offered use tungsten carbide as a wear-resistant nozzle material. Even when water is added, the abrasive media remains abrasive, and the nozzle bore is subject to wear. An enlarged bore changes the air consumption, blasting performance, and the ratio between air, abrasive media, and water.
Design water and compressed air supply systems together
For a stable wet blasting process, the compressed air volume and water supply must be properly balanced. The nozzle size significantly affects air consumption. At the same time, water must be available at the appropriate pressure and in sufficient quantity. Depending on the system, wet blast pumps, water hoses, and control components are used for this purpose.
Check before wet blasting
✅ Connection size and nozzle holder
✅ Nozzle bore and available compressor power
✅ Suitable water supply and required water pressure
✅ Abrasive media and surface sensitivity
✅ Desired dust reduction and operating conditions
Wet blast nozzles as part of a coordinated system
Wet blast nozzles are not a standalone solution. The process can only be operated in a controlled manner if the nozzle, nozzle holder, blast hose, water supply, and compressed air supply are all compatible. ABS Strahltechnik assists in selecting suitable components for professional wet blast applications.
