Air receivers as a component of the compressed air station

An air receiver stores compressed air and acts as a buffer between air generation and consumption. This allows short-term consumption peaks to be partially covered by the stored air volume and helps reduce rapid pressure fluctuations in the system. However, the effectiveness depends on the vessel capacity, operating pressure, compressor power, and consumption profile.

The current product range includes vertical air receivers with capacities ranging from 500 to 3,000 liters and a maximum operating pressure of 11 bar. Powder-coated and hot-dip galvanized versions are available, allowing for a variety of system configurations and installation conditions.

Select vessel capacity based on usage profile

The correct size of an air receiver cannot be reliably determined based solely on the compressor’s motor power. A system with relatively steady air consumption has different requirements than a system with short, very high consumption peaks. The type of control and operating mode of the compressor also play a role.

When sizing the system, it is therefore important to consider the average air demand, the peaks that occur, how long these peaks last, and how stable the network pressure needs to remain. A larger storage volume can buffer load fluctuations, but it is no substitute for a compressor that is undersized if the average air demand consistently exceeds the compressor’s delivery capacity.

Powder-coated or hot-dip galvanized

The containers are available in powder-coated or hot-dip galvanized finishes. Which option is appropriate depends on the installation location, environmental conditions, and the desired level of corrosion protection. The surface finish should be chosen carefully, especially for more demanding environments.

Take condensate in the air receiver into account

When compressed air cools, moisture can condense and collect in the tank. A suitable condensate drainage system should therefore be included in the system design. The store offers a variety of condensate drains and drain valves for this purpose, as well as systems for subsequent condensate treatment.

The compressor, storage tank, and compressed air network must therefore be sized as an integrated system.
