Belt-driven rotary screw compressors with speed control

Belt-driven rotary screw compressors with speed control

Belt-driven rotary screw compressors with speed control combine the flexible power transmission of a belt drive with demand-based adjustment of compressor output. In this category, you’ll find the FV series ranging from 30 to 90 kW for professional compressed air networks with fluctuating demand.

Depending on the power rating, flow rates ranging from approximately 4.6 to 14.7 m³/min are available. The models operate in pressure ranges of 5–8 or 5–10 bar. The load profile is particularly relevant for sizing: base load, typical partial load, and peak consumption should be determined as realistically as possible so that the speed control system can deliver its full benefit within the intended operating range.

FV Series: Belt Drive with Speed Control

Belt-driven rotary screw compressors with variable speed control are designed for applications in which compressed air demand varies significantly over the course of operation. The FV series combines belt drive with variable speed control and, in the current product range, covers power ratings from 30 to 90 kW.

Power ratings from 30 to 90 kW

The product line starts at 30 kW with 4.6 or 5.1 m³/min. Additional power ratings of 37, 45, 55, 75, and 90 kW provide flow rates of up to 12.8 or 14.7 m³/min. The different values result from the available pressure ranges.

Pressure ranges 5–8 and 5–10 bar

The FV models are available in pressure ranges of 5–8 or 5–10 bar. For design purposes, the required system pressure should be known as precisely as possible. An unnecessarily high pressure level should not be used as a substitute for proper sizing of the piping system or the end-use equipment.

Speed Control for Fluctuating Demand

The variable speed allows the compressor to adjust its flow rate within the specified range to match the current air demand. This is particularly relevant for operations with fluctuating machine runtimes, varying shifts, or highly variable consumer groups. For very consistent continuous loads, a fixed-speed solution should also be evaluated from a technical standpoint.

Belt drives as a technical focus

This page is intentionally part of the belt drive hierarchy and focuses on the variable-speed variant of this drive concept. Separate subcategories are available for fixed-speed F, FR, and FRD systems. Direct-drive variable-speed models are listed separately.

Buy a belt-driven, variable-speed rotary screw compressor

If you’re looking for a variable-speed, belt-driven rotary screw compressor, you’ll find the FV Series here in six power ratings ranging from 30 to 90 kW. The key factors for selection are flow rate, pressure range, and actual load profile.
