Contracor Suction Blast Cabinets at a Glance
Contracor suction blast cabinets meet a variety of requirements, ranging from occasional workshop use to regular industrial operation. In the suction blasting process, the abrasive media is drawn into the blast gun via negative pressure and accelerated by compressed air. This process is versatile and easily controllable, and is suitable for cleaning, matting, roughening, and surface preparation, among other applications.
ECO-S Series
The ECO-S-Base is available as a basic model without a integrated filtration unit and may be a suitable option if a suitable external extraction system is already in place. The ECO-S features a filter system with manual filter cleaning. The ECO-SF and ECO-SL feature automatic filter cleaning and rubber lining; the ECO-SL is additionally equipped with more powerful filtration technology. Pass-through openings facilitate the processing of longer components when working with suitable workpieces.
CAB-S, CAB-SD, and CAB-ST
The CAB-S models feature automatic filter cleaning and abrasive reconditioning. The CAB-SD model includes side pass-through openings and rubber lining. The CAB-ST model features a mobile turntable that facilitates the handling of heavier or bulkier workpieces. This allows the equipment to be specifically adapted to workflow, workpiece geometry, and daily use.
Filters and Abrasive Reconditioning
A reliable extraction system improves visibility inside the blasting booth and reduces dust exposure. As the system is used over time, dust, abrasion particles, and broken grains accumulate in the abrasive circulation system. Abrasive reconditioning separates some of these unwanted components from the reusable abrasive media, thereby promoting more consistent process conditions.
Work Area and Workpiece Handling
When making a selection, one should not consider only the workpiece dimensions. There must be sufficient space inside the chamber to rotate and reposition the component and to reach the surfaces to be processed at an optimal blasting angle. Pass-through openings are helpful for longer workpieces, while a turntable can significantly improve ergonomics when working with heavy components.

Therefore, the settings should be adjusted to the material and the desired surface finish and, if necessary, tested on a sample area first.
Properly Sizing Compressed Air Systems
Even with suction blast cabinets, the compressor power must match the air and blast nozzles being used. A stable working pressure and sufficient air volume are crucial for a uniform blast pattern. Pressure losses in lines, filters, and connections should be taken into account during design.
